Rebecca Lesses, associate professor in Jewish Studies, has just published an article in The Jewish Annotated New Testament (edited by Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Brettler, and published by Oxford University Press). Her article is entitled "Divine Beings." This is the first edition of the New Testament to be commented upon entirely by Jewish scholars of biblical studies.

Documentary filmmaker and alumnus, Daniel Cohen '76, will be screening his latest film on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 5:00 pm in the Park School Auditorium. His film titled, “An Article of Hope,” reveals the journey of the space shuttle Columbia; Col. Ilan Ramon, Israel's first astronaut; and a tiny Torah scroll.

The scroll was smuggled into a concentration camp during the Holocaust and was safeguarded by Joachim Joseph, a Holocaust survivor. This particular Torah, not only carried a young Holocaust survivor's grief, but also the prospect and promise of cultural respect and wisdom. Cohen takes us through, what Ilan Ramon equates, "from the depths of hell, to the heights of space."

Cohen is a six-time Emmy award-winning producer of corporate and live television as well as being a documentary filmmaker. The film's production partners include Playtone (Tom Hanks) and Herzog and Company.

 ITHACA, NY — The author of a book detailing the hidden history of the Warsaw Ghetto will deliver the annual Holocaust Lecture at Ithaca College on Monday, Oct. 24.
