Athletic Training Education

Faculty, Staff & Medical Team

Collectively, the academic and clinical professionals that makeup our Athletic Training Education program represent over 160 years of comprehensive professional and clinical experiences in athletic training that cover the gamut of related settings, skills, knowledge and perspectives. Together, we possess significant professional experiences at high schools, physical therapy clinics, sports performance domains, research laboratories, colleges and universities, and professional sports -- a combination that provides an unsurpassed advantage for preparing students to enter the myriad professional work settings available to athletic trainers today. Additionally, our faculty have over 140 years of combined experience as educators, mentors and scholars and are fully committed to every aspect of your educational and professional development in the didactic and clinical settings, and all conduct meaningful and applicable clinical research projects, often times in conjunction you, the student. To be frank, our combination of over 300 years of combined professional, pedagogical and scholarly experiences is unlikely to be matched by many athletic training programs in the country.

All faculty/staff members at Ithaca College teach core athletic training classes and work as clinical instructors in order to ensure continuity, comprehensiveness and interactive clarity between the various aspects of the program. As an athletic training major, you will also have one of our 7 full time faculty members as your formal academic advisor. Additionally, our team physicians often teach classes, conduct injury roundtables and evaluation clinics, and supervise our students during clinical experiences -- you'll get to know them quite well after 3 years of clinical involvement!

Additionally, all certified athletic trainers, interns, graduate athletic trainers, and undergraduate athletic training students provide medical coverage for the 25 intercollegiate athletic programs at Ithaca College. IC's athletic programs have won multiple NCAA Division III national championships, and remain extremely competitive at the regional and national levels--so our students' clinical education is exciting, challenging, and rewarding.
