Collectively, the seven academic and clinical professionals that makeup Ithaca College's Athletic Training Education program in the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences represent well over 150 years of academic, professional and clinical experiences in athletic training and sports medicine that cover the gamut of related skills, knowledge and perspectives. Amongst our staff, we have acquired significant professional experiences at high schools, physical therapy clinics, sports performance domains, colleges and universities, and professional sports -- a combination that provides us an unsurpassed and incredible advantage when it comes to preparing students to enter the myriad professional work settings available to athletic trainers today. Equally important, all athletic training faculty at Ithaca College are fully committed to all aspects of our educational program, and towards critical student development in both the didactic and clinical settings.
All seven of our full time faculty/staff members teach the core athletic training classes, AND work as clinical instructors in order to ensure continuity, comprehensiveness and interactive clarity between the various aspects of the educational program. Additionally, both our team physician and team orthopedist teach classes, conduct injury round tables and evaluation clinics, and supervise our students during clinical experiences -- you'll get to know them quite well after 3 years of clinical involvement!
Additionally, the certified athletic trainers, graduate athletic trainers, and undergraduate athletic training students provide medical coverage for the 25 intercollegiate athletic programs at Ithaca College. IC's athletic programs have won multiple NCAA Division III national championships, and remain extremely competitive at the regional and national levels, so our students' clinical education is exciting, challenging, and rewarding.
