Meet the Current Students

Christine Kenefic

I did my undergraduate at Ithaca College, graduating in May of 2006 with a degree in Health and Physical Education. My graduate assistantship is with Dr. Mary Bentley. Last semester I worked a lot with Dr. Phoebe Constantinou assisting with her undergraduate classes, including C&M Secondary and Teaching Strategies for PE. I was involved in lesson planning and delivering, video taping students and providing feedback to students. This semester I will work more with Dr. Bentley as she is beginning to collaborate with the TST BOCES Alternative School. I will be assisting in developing and presenting lessons to the students regarding health education topics. I chose IC because I really enjoyed the program during my undergraduate years and was looking forward to the Masters program only being one year. It was also nice that I already knew the area, the professors and my classmates. I think that both the campus and the area are beautiful, and while there is not always a lot to do, I can usually come up with something either on campus or around the town. I would say my most memorable experience would be my entire undergraduate career. Although I feel as though I learned a lot throughout my undergraduate classes, it was my student teaching experience that really was able to make me feel prepared to go into the "real world", by allowing me to feel like an actual teacher.
