I received my undergraduate degree from IC in health education. For my grad assistantship I work with Leslie Schettino, who is the director of Academic Support Services for Students with Disabilities. In the Fall I spent a lot of time working in the Academic Support Services office and also learning how to use assistive technology. Spring semester I will be working on various projects including working on an adaptive technology presentation for educational technology day and helping Leslie with the class she teaches, tests and measurements in health and physical education. Ithaca College has a wonderful and diverse collection of faculty members in the health education department. I wanted to stay because I knew there was so much more to learn here. Also, the prospect of working as a graduate assistant sounded like a wonderful opportunity. Social Foundations of Education really opened my eyes to the reform that needs to take place within our current public school system. I think that after I teach for a while I will want to work more on that side of things as opposed to in the classroom.
