MINORS

Open to all students majoring in all disciplines except Leisure Services, Therapeutic Recreation, and Outdoor Adventure Leadership.

MINOR IN RECREATION (16 credits)

Designed to increase the student's awareness of the importance and extent of leisure and recreation in modern society and to prepare the student to plan, organize, and lead a recreation program of limited scope in a variety of settings.

Courses:

  • 661-10100 Leisure and Society OR 661-10300 History and Philosophy of Leisure (3 cr.)
  • 661-10500 Leadership (3 cr.)
  • 661-23200 Program Planning (3 cr.)
  • 662-12200 Emergency Health Care (1 cr.)
  • 661-24800 Fieldwork I OR documented evidence of at least 200 hours of volunteer or paid experience in recreation leadership or programming
  • Six (6) additional credits selected Recreation courses

Designed to prepare the student to plan, organize, and lead outdoor recreation programs of limited scope.
