School of Music Returns to Lincoln Center Stage
For the third time in eight years, students and faculty from
the Ithaca College School of Music will have an opportunity to
perform in one of the nations premier concert settings:
Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.
The New York City concert by the Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra,
Wind Ensemble, and Womens Chorale will take place at 8:00
p.m. on Monday, April 12. Tickets are $35 for adults and $20
for children 12 and under. Tickets may be ordered from Center
Charge Tickets at (212) 721-6500, or through the World Wide Web
at www.lincolncenter.org. For more information, contact the School
of Music at 274-3366.
The concert will mark the sixth time in its history that the
School of Music has staged a performance at Lincoln Center. This
program is being given to celebrate the completion of the new
James J. Whalen Center for Music, an expansion that will double
the size of the schools current Ford Hall home. A formal
dedication ceremony for the facility will take place on campus
in the fall.
The program will open with Shostakovichs "Festive
Overture" and conclude with Tchaikovskys rousing "1812
Overture." Works by Raminsh, Respighi, Sparke, and others
will also be featured. The wind ensemble is conducted by Stephen
Peterson, the womens chorale by Janet Galván, and
the symphony orchestra by Grant Cooper. |
