School of Communications Awarded Eastman Product Grant

Kodak Worldwide Student ProgramIthaca College is one of 24 American colleges and univer- sities selected by the Eastman Kodak Company to receive a $2,000 Eastman product grant. The grant, which comes in the form of Eastman motion picture camera film, is extended directly to the educational institution in recognition of overall program quality. It will be used by students in the Roy H. Park School of Communications for various filmmaking projects. Among the schools that received grants this year are the Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Michigan, the University of Southern California, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

"This product grant program rewards academic excellence by enabling film schools to undertake production projects beyond their normal budgetary scope and will enrich the educational experience of future filmmakers studying at this school," says John Mason, manager of marketing programs for Kodak’s Professional Motion Imaging business unit.

The Eastman Product Grant Program is part of the Kodak Worldwide Student Program, which was established in 1991 to support young filmmakers through a variety of educational initiatives that include the Eastman Scholarship Program and the Eastman Educational Allowance Program. The product grant program alone has extended more than $1 million in grants since its inception.

"As the world’s leader in imaging technology, we believe it is our responsibility to help film school educators prepare the future generation of filmmakers for the vital role they will play in our society," Mason says.
