Angus Godwin and Friends To Perform Old Favorites

A faculty recital of cabaret classics performed by baritone Angus Godwin with guitarist Steve Brown, bassist Henry Neubert, and percussionist Gordon Stout will take place on Sunday, October 28. The free concert will start at 4:00 p.m. in the recital hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. The program will feature such favorites as Gershwin’s "A Foggy Day" and "S’Wonderful," Fats Waller’s "Honeysuckle Rose," and Cole Porter’s "Night and Day." There will also be medleys of songs written by Alec Wilder, Duke Ellington, and Kurt Weill.

Godwin, a professor of voice, is a member of the Juilliard Opera Theater. He has performed in a wide array of venues, including U.S. Army posts in Japan, Carnegie Hall, and NBC’s Today show.

Brown, a professor of jazz studies and jazz guitar, directs the jazz program. Professor of double bass Neubert performs with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and conducts the Ithaca College Symphonic Band. Stout, a professor of percussion, performs frequently on his specialty instrument, the marimba. He is also an accomplished composer and has several recordings available, both of his own works and of standard repertoire by American composers.
