Ken Burns Shares His American Experience
Documentary
filmmaker Ken Burns --- who has brought American history and folklore
to the American public on subjects that include Thomas Jefferson, Mark
Twain, Frank Lloyd Wright, Lewis and Clark, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and
Susan B. Anthony, the Civil War, baseball, and jazz --- spent several
days on campus as this year’s Park distinguished visitor. He conducted
master classes on the use of biography in documentary work; documentary
making as a career; and race in American history, and gave a public lecture
called "Sharing the American Experience." "What," we asked him, "will
your next subject be?" "Topics really choose me," he replied. We’ll have
to wait and see.
