Wine and cheese fundraiser: Sunday, June 1, 2014, 6-8 pm
@ Frog Common House, Ecovillage 100 Rachel Carson Way, Ithaca
The local Colombia Support Network group which has a sister community relationship with the Movimiento Campesino de Cajibío (MCC; Cajibío Small Farmers' Movement in Cauca, Colombia) is hosting a wine and cheese (and finger foods) fundraiser, to help cover costs for an eleven-person delegation from Central New York going to Colombia on July 1-9th, 2014.
The delegates will participate in the II Feria Campesina (agrarian based exchange fair of seeds, crops, and ideas), to exchange experiences related to grassroots efforts in Colombia and in Central New York to strengthen a cooperative and sustainable local economy, and to learn about the amazing strides by campesinos, indigenous, Afro-Colombians, students, and other groups in Colombia to bring about agrarian policy change that is centered on buen vivir ('good living'), social justice, equality, and where citizens' voices are heard!
We will also be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Cajibio-Central New York sister community relationship!
Can't make it? You can STILL donate to support learning and organizing for justice across the Americas. HERE is a link to a film project related to the delegation: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/movimiento-campesino-de-cajibio-a-documentary Made a donation? Amplify it by sharing this invitation with friends!
