Post-migration, my Dropbox application stopped working.  What gives?

Though Dropbox is an unsupported application, it is quite useful for keeping your files synced and centralized. Until recently, Dropbox has been broken on Windows computers.  We now have a fix in place, and can help you get Dropbox working again!

Just call the Helpdesk @ 4-1000, and let us know that you need Dropbox fixed on your Windows computer.  We can then get it fixed!

For Macs, simply reinstall Dropbox, and choose "Full Sync Setup" when installing. Dropbox will reinstall correctly.

I recently changed my password, but I cannot log into my laptop with my new password.  What gives?

Password changes do not go to laptops automatically - the laptop must be brought to campus and plugged into an Ethernet port, to update the password.

So - when your password changes, bring your laptop to campus.

Plug it into an Ethernet port.

Turn it on.

When at the login screen, log in using your new Netpass username and password.

That should do it!

Can I bring my personal computer into the Helpdesk for repairs?

An excellent question!  We at the Helpdesk can troubleshoot wireless issues on personal laptops, but do not do any repairs on personal computers.

Luckily, ITS does have a place to take your personal computers!  Visit our Student Computer Repair Center in Friends 110!  Do not let the name fool you - the Student Computer Repair Center will fix personal computers for faculty, staff, and students!  More information about the Student Computer Repair Center, including hours of operation, rates, and other information, is available here.

Keep those questions coming!

Nope you shouldn't.

I am not sure whether you are on a Mac or a PC but we have identified a process that migrates the local profile for the guardian (primary user) of the machine. So, for example, many Mac users use the "user" account and their data and preferences (background, desktop, documents etc) are stored in this profile. We migrate this "user" profile to the new profile, in my case, alee. Then when I log in using alee, all of my "stuff" is there.

We are still recommending that you back up your files as a best practice. We haven't lost any data yet, knock on wood, but this still is technology and anything can happen! Hope this answers your question, if not ask again.

I think what you are asking is when will ICAirnet-Secure be available to Windows 7 (64 bit) users?

If that is the question, we are hoping by the start of the spring semester in January. ICAirnet works on Windows 7 but ICAirnet-Secure does not. It's really the 64 bit processor that has been the problem.
