Software Requests
ITS provides commonly used software in the lab images. The Windows lab software bundle includes: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Access), a variety of readers, Photoshop Elements, the Novell client to access the Novell file servers and WS_FTP. The Macintosh lab software bundle includes Safari, Firefox, the iLife suite (iMovie, iChat, iPhoto, iDVD, Garageband) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Photoshop Elements, the Novell client and Fetch.
Faculty can request specialty software to be added to the lab image. Departments are responsible for purchasing the software and the appropriate number of licenses. ITS may either make the software available in all labs or limit it to specific labs depending on the licensing technology.
Typically, speciality software requests should be received by ITS by the beginning of June for deployment for the fall semester and by November for deployment for the Spring semester. Typically, new software requests for the spring semester should be limited because ITS only has a few weeks in January to update the lab images.
Dates and deadlines for speciality software requests are announced in Intercom. For questions about this process, contact Lisa Efing, Coordinator of Student Employment and Lab Services.
