Why are Clickers used?

According to Derek Bruff (http://derekbruff.org/) clickers are used to increased student participation, increased student engagement, and to gather frequent feedback on student learning.

How will you know if your class is going to use Clickers?

If your class is going to be using clickers it will be listed as a required course material on the Bookstores web page. 

Can clickers be used for more then one course?

Yes. Your clicker can be used for as many classes as you need it for.

Can students share clickers?

Clickers can be shared between students who are in different classes or different sections of the same class. Students in the same class at the same time can not share clickers. (Each time that you use the clicker you will have to set your user name in it) 

What should I use as a user ID in my clicker*?

Your instructor may ask you to register your clicker in Sakai.  If not, enter your Netpass username. The same username you use to log into your email. 

How do I buy a clicker?

Ithaca College ITS is supporting the ResponseCard NXT from Turning Technologies any student required to have a clicker will need to purchase this model.  Clickers can be purchased or rented through the Bookstore. The ISBN number for these clickers is 9781934931455.  For the first year, students can get a $15 mail-in rebate. The price of the clicker before the rebate is $50 or less if used. They may be rented. Purchased clickers can be sold back to the Bookstore for $25.

 

What do I do if my clicker doesn't work?

First make sure the plastic battery protector tab is removed and press a few buttons. If it still doesn't turn on, try a new set of batteries.  You can email mdisensa@ithaca.edu  to arrange for ITS to test it.  If you bought it at the bookstore, the best thing is to return it to them and ask for a replacement.
