Ithaca College’s Energy Star rated residence halls recently garnered the attention of the New York Times, with Marian Brown and Rick Couture both quoted in the article. Brown commented on the plaques given to residence halls that qualify for the Energy Star label. “It lets us make a visual statement that, ‘Hey, we are doing these things,’ ” she said. Couture commented on how many improvements that add to efficiency aren’t visible but are still important. “I could easily spend $20 million on new windows if I had the money, and we have a number of boilers that need to be replaced,” he said. “These are all the things that people don’t see and aren’t glamorous, but they’re the guts of the building.”
This article was also picked up by CNBC and a number of other websites.
