Author Maggie Nelson to Give Reading at Ithaca College
ITHACA, NY — The Distinguished Visiting Writers Series at Ithaca College will host a reading by author Maggie Nelson on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. in the Handwerker Gallery. It is free and open to the public.
Nelson is the author of four works of nonfiction. Her most recent book, “The Art of Cruelty: A Reckoning,” was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and featured on the front cover of the newspaper’s Sunday Book Review. Her other books include “Bluets,” a meditation of the color blue, and “The Red Parts: A Memoir,” an autobiographical book about family, sexual violence and media spectacle.
She is also the author of several books of poetry and is a contributor to such publications as Artforum, Bookforum and Cabinet. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship in Nonfiction and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry. She currently teaches at the California Institute of the Arts.
