Ithaca College Hosts Educational Energy Conference
ITHACA, NY — The latest in energy management, operational best practices and vendor products and services will be showcased in a free daylong conference at Ithaca College. Educational Energy Day will feature sessions focusing on such practical topics as rates and regulation, purchasing strategies, energy-saving strategies and renewable energy solutions. The conference takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Campus Center.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for representatives from the business, government and nonprofit sectors to come together in one place to learn from the experts,” said Michelle Jones, facilities energy manager for Ithaca College. “Those who work in the education, hospital and health care, hospitality, manufacturing, architect and engineering, and transportation fields will all find something worthwhile to take away from the event.”
Topics within the conference’s Life Cycle of Energy Management track will include rates and regulations; energy purchasing strategies; energy modeling; commissioning; and energy funding, incentives and grants. Topics within the Operational Best Practices track will include the top five energy savers, preventative maintenance, energy conservation and renewable energy solutions. The third track will feature vendor seminars, exhibits and demonstrations.
Among the speakers will be representatives from the New York Power Authority and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority; Gerster Energy Services; ETM Solar Works; O’Brien & Gere; Hunt Engineers, Architects & Land Surveyors; Arista Power; and Ithaca College and Cornell University.
While the conference is free, attendees are asked to register in advance for planning purposes. For more information or to register for Educational Energy Day, visit www.ithaca.edu/edenergy or call 607-274-3225.
