Thank you to everyone who attended Ithaca College Television's 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Nearly 200 alumni, faculty, staff, administration and students gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ithaca College Television on Saturday, October 18th. Started in 1958 Ithaca College Television, ICTV, is the oldest student-run television station in the world. This unique milestone was an opportunity for the many alumni who attended to share their learning experiences and memorable moments of ICTV through the past five decades.

The day’s events kicked off with a tailgate BBQ outside of the Park School of Communications. Under a picture perfect autumn day, current students were able to meet with alumni throughout the years to hear about their time with ICTV, telling stories and sharing anecdotes about the station. Following the BBQ, alumni took student-guided tours of the Park School to see how much the facilities had changed. They also watched clips of past and present ICTV shows in the Park Auditorium. Some even stopped by to see current students producing the Bombers football game live for ICTV, an experience many of them recalled fondly when they were students at Ithaca College.

The evening featured a cocktail hour followed by a sit-down dinner. Following dinner current ICTV students planned and produced an hour and a half live broadcast commemorating the 50 years of Ithaca College Television through nostalgia and humor. The program included clips from shows throughout the years including, News, Sports, Comedies, Dramas, Variety and Game shows. Another exciting aspect were a series of live interviews with a variety of people associated with the history of ICTV including Roy Colle, the Chair of the Television-Radio department in 1958 who was responsible for starting Ithaca College Television.

The ICTV 50th anniversary celebration was an extraordinary opportunity for members of the Ithaca College community to mark a truly exceptional milestone. The event was highly successful in bringing together alumni from various generations of the station and connecting them with today’s students. A powerful illustration of the unique learning experience provided by Ithaca College.
