IMC major and CMD minor Peter Pasco, class of ’09, is a senior art director at Area 23, a DraftFCB company in New York City, which specializes in professional healthcare advertising. Area 23 is a mid-sized full-service agency that offers the capabilities of its larger, parent-company along with the personal service of a thriving start-up. Its client roster includes Archimedes, Auxilium, Daiichi-Sankyo, Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Pfizer and Roche. Peter is responsible for the design and execution of various print and digital projects including sales aids, journal ads, convention panels and other collateral. In 2010, he helped launch the drug ACTEMRA (Genentech) in the United States and has since helped the brand grow in the competitive market of treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. More recently, he has taken a lead in pioneering the design of Genentech's first interactive visual aid.
Peter began as an intern art director at DraftFCB Healthcare where he proved his creative abilities working on the multi-million dollar Spiriva account, which led him to his position today. In 2008, Peter landed a summer internship at Saatchi & Saatchi Healthcare Advertising through the 4A's Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP). He has been nominated for two DraftFCB FACE Awards for best new employee and the FACE Award for Area 23.
"As an art director," Peter stated, "coming up with creative ideas and engaging designs is just a portion of what I do. The other part involves being able to think strategically and determining what tactics are going to exceed my clients' objectives, or in other words, the business side of being a creative. The IMC and CMD programs at the Park School of Communications has definitely prepared me to think in that strategic sense and enable me to excel in what I do."
