Amie Germain, Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy, will be the featured speaker for the Graduate Hooding and Commencement ceremony, scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, in Glazer Arena of the Athletics & Events Center. The ceremony recognizes all Ithaca College students who are earning master's and doctoral degrees.
Germain currently serves as the Chair for Graduate Studies in Occupational Therapy and as the Director of Educational Development with the college’s Center for Faculty Excellence. In these roles, she teaches both undergraduate and graduate students, advises graduate students, and engages with and supports faculty across campus as they progress in honing their teaching craft.
An active member of both the American Occupational Therapy Association and the Universal Design for Learning Higher Education Network, Germain has provided pediatric occupational therapy services in a variety of practice settings, including early intervention, preschool, school based, hospital based, and private practice.
Before coming to Ithaca College, Germain served as the lead occupational therapist for the Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Locally, she has provided occupational therapy services as a provider with Tompkins County Whole Health, the Lansing Central School District, and in the Occupational and Physical Therapy Clinic at Ithaca College.
Germain was selected by the Center for Faculty Excellence to serve as a Dana Teaching Fellow from 2018-2021. As Director of Educational Development with the center, Germain provides leadership for the implementation of inclusive pedagogy across courses and disciplines to support learning initiatives at the college.
