SING TO ME OF THE NIGHT: This recording contains music for the saxophone by composer Dana Wilson. Included are selections for unaccompanied saxophone, chamber selections, and Wilson's concerto, Time Cries Hoping Otherwise, accompanied by the Ithaca College Wind Ensemble. This is a fitting tribute to an excellent composer, who has added a wealth of music to the saxophone repertoire.

RITE OF PASSAGE: Mauk's latest solo CD containing some of the most challenging repertoire for the saxophone. Included are Edison Denisov's Sonate, Ingolf Dahl's Concerto, Leslie Bassett's Music for Saxophone and Piano, and William Albright's Sonata. These pieces help separate the student musician from the professional and serve as a "rite of passage" between these two levels. Cayuga Sound.

TROICAMusic for trumpet, saxophone, and piano. This recording features performances by TROICA, a trio of Ithaca College faculty members including Kim Dunnick (trumpet), Steven Mauk (alto saxophone), and Diane Birr (piano). The ensemble has discovered existing works and commissioned new pieces for this unique grouping. CLASSICAL BOUQUET: Music for Soprano Saxophone and Piano. A collection of transcribed and original compositions for soprano saxophone and piano. Included are: Platti Sonata, Bach Sonata in E-flat Major (BWV 1031), Ravel Pièce en forme de Habenera, Charles Rochester Young Sonata for Soprano Saxophone, Villa-Lobos Fantasia, and Mozart Concerto for Oboe in C Major (K. 314). DISTANCES WITHIN ME: Contemporary Classics for Alto Saxophone. This album contains original works for alto saxophone and piano, both standards and newer compositions. The CD is comprised of Desenclos Prélude, Cadence et Finale, John Anthony Lennon Distances Within Me, Hindemith Sonate, Yasinitsky Sixth Sense, and Rorem Picnic on the Marne. THE SAXOPHONE AND ME: Johann Sebastian Bach. A compact disc of music by Johann Sebastian Bach transcribed for soprano saxophone and piano. Includes: Badinerie from Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B minor (BWV 1067), Aria from the Organ Pastorale in F Major (BWV 590), Flute Sonata in G minor (BWV 1020), Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Major (BWV 1068), Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, Flute Sonata in C Major (BWV 1033), Sinfonia from Cantata No. 156, Gounod's arrangement of Ave Maria, and the Flute Partita in A Minor (BWV 1013). ESCAPE TO THE CENTER. A compact disc of chamber music for saxophones by the Empire Saxophone Quartet (Steven Mauk, Jamal Rossi, April Lucas, Anthony Alduino). This album features transcribed music by Handel, Bach, Gershwin, Beethoven, and Bert Williams. Original pieces include works by Francaix, Dubois, Marshall, and Dana Wilson's Escape to the Center. HOLIDAY HOMECOMING. A two-CD set of Christmas music performed by the Saxophone Sinfonia conducted by David Bilger. This large saxophone ensemble is comprised of professional saxophonists, including the members of the Empire Saxophone Quartet. The Sinfonia performs most of the traditional Christmas carols made popular throught the centuries. Many of the 20th century selections, such as White Christmas, Sleigh Ride, and the Christmas Song, are performed in jazz style. A perfect choice for holiday listening. Open Loop, 033.

CLASSIC SAXOPHONE, Vol. 2: Musica da camera. This is a CD containing chamber music for saxophones by Ithaca College alumni, Frank Bongiorno. Bongiorno is professor of music at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Included on this recording is the jazz-stlye selection Faces of the Blues by David Baker for alto saxophone soloist and saxophone quartet. Bongiorno performs this work and a transcription of Mozart's Oboe Quartet in F Major with members of the Empire Saxophone Quartet. Kechley's In the Dragon's Garden, Telemann's Sonata I, Steven Galante's Saxsounds III: Diminishing Returns, and Fauré's Sicilienne round out the album. Liscio Recordings, LCD-09193.

WINTER BRANCHES. A collection of music by composer and professor of music at Williams College, David Kechley. Included on the album is his Music for Saxophones composed for alto saxophone solo and saxophone quartet. Soloist on this CD is Frank Bongiorno, Ithaca College alumni and professor of music at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, who is accompanied by the Empire Saxophone Quartet. Other selections on the album include music for viola and piano, cello and piano, and guitar quartet. Liscio Recordings,LCD-097982.

IN THE DRAGON'S GARDEN. This is a second collection of music by composer and professor of music at Williams College, David Kechley. Included on the album are his Valencia: Iberian Musings for marimba and saxophone quartet, which features Ithaca College professor of percussion, Gordon Stout, and the Empire Saxophone Quartet. This piece was written for the ESQ and Stout, and premiered by them at Williams College. The ESQ were also featured on Kechley's Stepping Out, a work for saxophone quartet. The other selections are In the Dragon's Garden and Driveline, both for alto saxophone and guitar, which features the Ryoanji Duo (Frank Bongiorno, saxophone, and Robert Nathanson, guitar). IMAGES OF CHAGALL. A CD of pieces by composer Meyer Kupferman.  Included is his Sound Phantoms No. 7 for soprano saxophone and percussion. This is an exciting and challenging duo that presents a variety of styles in a single-movement work.  Gordon Stout, percussion; Soundspells Productions 103.
