Two Named to Administrative Posts

Ithaca College has announced the appointments of Amy Sonnenfeld Teel as director of international programs and Martha Gray as director of institutional research. Teel replaces Tanya Saunders, who was recently named assistant provost; Gray succeeds Larry Metzger, who has been named dean of enrollment planning.

Amy Sonnenfeld TeelTeel had served as assistant director of international programs since 1988, handling stateside recruitment for the Ithaca College London Center, providing study-abroad advising to all other destinations, and serving as the immigration and cultural adviser for the Office of International Programs. In her new post she will direct support programs for international students on campus, coordinate study-abroad opportunities, and work with faculty and administrators to enhance international awareness of the College through curriculum and faculty development, increased student and faculty exchanges, and study-abroad options.

In 1995 Teel was appointed to a leadership position with the National Association of Foreign Student Affairs. She has served as an assistant director of admissions at the New School for Social Research, placement specialist at the Institute of International Education, and political intern with the United States embassy in Khartoum, Sudan. She studied at the London School of Economics and holds a master's degree in anthropology from Northwestern University and bachelor's degree in anthropology from Hamilton College.

Martha GrayGray joined the College as a researcher in 1988, earning successive promotions to senior research analyst, assistant director, and, in 1994, associate director of enrollment planning. As director of the Office of Institutional Research she will oversee the planning, development, and administration of the College's management information system to provide statistical data and analyses for the institution's future planning, trends, and forecasting.

A recipient of the 1994 Presidential Recognition Award, Gray serves the College as a member of the Middle States Steering Committee and the Technology Task Group of the President's Advisory Committee. She holds a bachelor's degree from North Carolina State University and is currently studying for a master's degree at Ithaca College. Prior to joining the College she had been employed with the Becton Dickinson Research Center, Raleigh Community Hospital, and Rex Hospital, all in Raleigh, North Carolina.
