President Whalen admires a small fountain constructed in his honor at the Turtle Bridge near the College's Centennial Garden. The fountain, intended to refresh small animals, birds, and people alike, is complete with a turtle sculpture and an inscription reading "J. J. was here." The fountain was constructed with the help of special friends and alumni, HOLT architects, sculptor Dexter Benedict, and the College's physical plant staff.
"We are giving you the one and only thing you ever actually asked for," said board of trustees vice chairman David W. Sass at a Friday, May 16, dedication ceremony. "There will never be any doubt that J. J. was here and got the job done for Ithaca College with grace, class, and style."
