Theater Season Opens with Shakespeare
Though Love's Labor's Lost is believed to be the first and oldest Shakespeare play, director Earl McCarroll will place a modern twist on this timeless tale of wit, wisdom, and love. Set in a garden in Navarre, three young men learn the lessons of life and romance when they take a vow to devote themselves to study by promising to fast, to sleep only three hours a night, and to neither see nor speak to a woman. However, they find the vow difficult to keep when they are struck by the beauty of the visiting princess of France and her ladies-in-waiting. Rich in language and all the splendors of love, Love's Labor's Lost has survived more than 400 years because of its sunny and satirical look at the inevitability of falling in love. The cast of Love's Labor's Lost includes Erik Anderson '99 as the King of Navarre, Gavin Hoffman '99 as Berowne, V.
