Columnist Fred Mitchell to Visit
	Fred Mitchell, sports columnist and editor at the Chicago Tribune, will visit Ithaca College on Thursday, February 5, as part of the College's celebration of Black History Month. Mitchell's talk, "Sports Figures as Role Models: Rethinking the Responsibilities," is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public. Mitchell has spent nearly 25 years at the paper, and is a frequent contributor to the Saturday Evening Post and the Sporting News, among other periodicals. He has covered Super Bowls, World Series, and National Basketball Association finals. He's travelled extensively with the Bulls, the Bears, and the Cubs, and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the 1996 Journalism Pioneer Award from the National Association of Black Journalists. The author of three books, Mitchell is at work on a new book about Earl and Tiger Woods. The book is due from Harper Collins this spring. Mitchell is a graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, where he excelled in track and set a national Division III scoring record as a kicker. He was inducted in 1995 into the Wittenberg University Athletic Hall of Fame.
