Womens Basketball Coach Makes Move from East Hill
to South Hill
Jennifer
Kroll, an assistant womens basketball coach at Cornell
University for the past four years, was recently named head womens
basketball coach at Ithaca College. She succeeds Christine Pritchard,
who resigned after 14 seasons.
Kroll joined the Big Red coaching staff in 1995. During her
tenure Cornell twice set a school record for Ivy League wins
in a season, twice came within a win of matching the school record
for single-season victories (finishing 12-14 in 199596
and 199697), and recorded the programs highest Ivy
League finish (fourth in 199697). She helped recruit and
coach three allIvy League players and three members of
the Ivy League all-rookie team, including last seasons
rookie of the year.
A 1991 graduate of Northwestern University, Kroll played basketball
for four years for the Division I Wildcats. She helped lead Northwestern
to the Big Ten championship in 1990 and to NCAA tournament berths
in 1990 and 1991. She spent two seasons as an assistant basketball
coach at the University of Kentucky while earning her masters
degree in sport management.
Kroll takes over a program that has experienced great success
in recent years. Two years ago Ithaca set a school record with
22 victories and won New York State Womens Collegiate Athletic
Association and Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate New
York titles. The previous season the Bombers won the programs
first Empire Athletic Association championship and advanced to
the second round of the NCAA play-offs. The Bombers finished
12-12 last winter and have not had a losing season since 1987. |
