Follow Your Inner Voice, Winkler Tells New Grads

Winklerís journey of self-discovery started when he was a seven-year-old dyslexic underachiever who dreamed of becoming an actor. But because of his handicap, Winklerís experiences with the educational system often left him with the short end of the stick.

Board of Trustees Elects Student Representative

At its May meeting the Ithaca College Board of Trustees elected Kristina Pervi í02 to serve a two-year term as student trustee. A resident of Millersville, Maryland, Pervi is majoring in applied economics with minors in finance and legal studies.


Three Professors Receive Awards of Excellence

Three Ithaca College faculty members were honored for outstanding achievement at the annual recognition and awards luncheon on May 9. Ellen Bonaguro was presented with the Excellence in Service Award, Vicki Cameron received the Excellence in Scholarship Award, and Martin Sternstein was given the Excellence in Teaching Award.

Czech University Honors Composer Karel Husa

Karel Husa, a Pulitzer PrizeĖ winning composer and former member of the Ithaca College music faculty, was presented with an honorary doctor of arts degree from Masaryk University, one of the Czech Republicís largest institutions of higher education, on May 12.

Faculty Member Receives Guggenheim Fellowship

James Matheson, a composer and lecturer in the School of Music is one of 182 writers, painters, filmmakers, musicians, scholars, and scientists selected from over 2,900 applicants for this prestigious award, which is granted on the basis of distinguished achievement and exceptional promise for future accomplishment.

Ramage Named Dana Professor

The appointment was made in recognition of her excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship, as well as the significant contributions she has made to Ithaca College. The Dana professorship program is supported by an endowment from the Charles A. Dana Foundation.

Theater Graduate Wins National Design Award

Jennette Kollmann, from Manassas, Virginia, capped off her senior year by winning the Barbizon Award for Theatrical Design Excellence in Lighting Design for her work on the Ithaca College Theatre production of Eric Overmyerís Dark Rapture.
