Social
critic, essayist, and journalist Barbara Ehrenreich will visit
Ithaca College October 2–6 to kick off the second year of the
Department of Writing’s Distinguished Visiting Writers Series.

The
Ithaca College Concerts season will start on Tuesday, September
26, with a performance by virtuoso cellist Janos Starker. This
is the first of three concerts in the "Best of Class" 2000–2001
series, which features outstanding performers from three different
musical genres.

Ithaca College
is now offering a bachelor of arts degree in writing. The new
major was approved last April by the New York State Education
Department, and according to Barbara Adams, assistant professor
of writing, a comprehensive bachelor’s degree in writing is hard
to find.
David Prunty,
currently the assistant director of residential life for operations
at Ithaca College, has been chosen to direct the College’s Office
of Conference and Events Services. In his new duties he will
be responsible for coordinating and administering all aspects
of event planning, special programs, and summer housing.
