Parents Maintain Their Generous Support of Ithaca College

Ithaca College parents continued their generosity to the College in the 1999–2000 fund year. Gifts to the Parents Fund from 2,019 parents of current students and alumni totaled $185,423. This marks a seven percent increase in dollar amount over the previous year. Chairpersons Stephen and Sherry Shulman, parents of Zachary ’99 and Riki ’02, completed the second year of their fine leadership of this effort. Thanks are due them as well as the members of the Parents Fund Committee for their work in making the 1999–2000 fund a success.

As the chart above indicates, parents designated their gifts to a variety of areas at the College. A majority of parents chose to make unrestricted contributions. These are especially helpful because the funds can be used where the need is greatest. Others chose to designate their gifts for an individual school or program such as athletics, the campus chaplaincies, the library, or scholarship support. No matter how they are directed, parent gifts directly benefit the College and form an important part of the annual giving campaign.
