A
special evening concert will be the highlight of the fourth annual
Ithaca College Winter Guitar Festival on February 24 and 25 in
the Whalen Center. The Saturday events will include solo and ensemble
performances, an exposition of rare and vintage guitars, and a
lecture by Uruguayan guitar virtuoso Eduardo Fernández.

The ASCAP
Foundation in New York City has awarded Ithaca College a $12,000
grant to support the music program this year at the Frederick
Douglass Academy, a public high school in Harlem with which the
College has formed a partnership.

James
Campbell — acclaimed by the Toronto Star as Canada’s preeminent
clarinetist and wind soloist — will collaborate with pianist Leonard
Hokanson in a free recital on Friday, February 9, at 8:15 p.m.
in the recital hall of the Whalen Center.

He
works with Regis, she with Emeril. He works in broadcast television,
she in cable. Both have helped develop popular television programs,
and both will be at Ithaca College for three days in February
to give master classes and classroom presentations and to meet
informally with students in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

Ten individuals
and two groups were recently selected to receive IC Choice Awards
which recognize employees making significant contributions to
the College community and reward distinguished and innovative
service.

The Campus
Life Award is given each year to a select group of graduating
seniors to recognize their outstanding contributions to the Ithaca
College community through their participation in campus life.

The Department
of Cinema and Photography will continue its Cinema on the Edge
series this spring. The presentations, lectures, and film and
video screenings will be held in Park Hall Auditorium and are
free and open to the public.
