Ensemble X Closes Season

Ensemble X, Ithaca’s acclaimed new-music band, will close its 2000–2001 season with a free concert on Sunday, March 4, at 8:15 p.m. in the recital hall of the James J. Whalen Center for Music. The performance will include works by Melinda Wagner, Roberto Sierra, Jonathan Harvey, Luciano Berio, and Aaron Copland. The ensemble, which includes faculty members from Ithaca College and Cornell University, performs both very new music of the "classical" tradition—typically music written within the past 5 to 10 years—and established works from earlier in the 20th century. Ensemble X was founded in 1997.
