New Versions of Firefox and Internet ExplorerContributed by Karen Sunderland on 03/23/2011 Mozilla Firefox 4 (for Windows and Mac) and Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) for Windows were recently released. As with all new product releases, thorough testing and evaluation must be done to ensure that the software functions properly with our enterprise applications such as Homer, Parnassus and Blackboard. These new Web browsers have not yet been evaluated by ITS, but IE9 is reported to be incompatible with Windows XP. While Firefox is expected to be compatible with college-owned workstations, ITS recommends that users NOT install the new broswer versions on college computers at this time in order to avoid possible compatibility issues with campus applications. The new version of Firefox is incompatible with our ebrary e-books in the Library. At this time, we recommend NOT upgrading Firefox if you are a regular user of our ebooks.
