Congratulations to Mengchun Yang,  Bizhou Jin and Michael Clark for their placements in the 13th annual Empire State Competition sponsored by the New York State Music Teachers Association on October 5, 2012.

Winner of the Empire Collegiate Piano Competition, Bizhou Jin, is from the studio of Dr. Nathan Hess.  Michael Clark, from the studio of Dr. Jennifer Hayghe, was awarded Honorable Mention in the same category. 

Mengchun Yang, soprano from the studio of Carol McAmis, won first place in the Empire Collegiate Voice Competition.  One of eight participants in her category, Mengchun was recently featured in the Ithaca College READY campaign. 

The competition was sponsored by the New York State Music Teachers Association, which oversees the state competitions that are part of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

This year's Empire State Competition was held at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.
