Interested in interdisciplinary teaching? Join our learning community beginning Feb. 5.

Contributed by Mara Alper

The Center for Faculty Excellence and CFE Faculty-in-Residence for Interdisciplinary Teaching Mara Alper invite faculty interested in interdisciplinary teaching and learning to join us this semester for active, collaborative discussions. We especially encourage those who have considered this approach, but are uncertain how to do it. This group will collaboratively study and reflect on the philosophy, process and logistics of this approach, then develop plans that can be put into action in 2014-15.

Together, we will explore innovative approaches for new or existing classes with both experienced faculty and those new to this approach. We will pool expertise and insights that enhance our interdisciplinary teaching.  This collaboration will synthesize concrete ideas, potential projects and elegant solutions that support our teaching and IC20/20 integrative education goals. We will meet every other Wednesday beginning Feb. 5 from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. in Gannett 316.

Mara Alper will facilitate this learning community. She will be joined by faculty who are also experienced in interdisciplinary teaching -- Jason Hamilton, Gordon Rowland, Julia Lapp, Hormoz Movassaghi, Paula Turkon.
