Joe Brown '08 played in the Raphael Mendez Institute during the summer of 2009.
Will Cicola '07 had an article published in September 2009 issue of The Clarinet magazine, entitled "Some Strings Attached: The German Clarinet Ligature".
Meghan McNamara-Cabral '06 had an article published in The Instrumentalist Magazine under the "Advice to New Teachers" column, entitled "Balancing Goals With Experience."
Patrick O’Connell ’06 has earned an M.M. in bass performance from the Yale School of Music, where he was awarded the Yale School of Music Alumni Association Prize, which is given to “students who have not only excelled in their respective fields, but have also made an important contribution to the general life of the School.” While at Yale, he performed with the Sarasota Music Festival (Sarasota, FL) and the Mimesis Ensemble (New York, NY). In the summer of 2008, he performed with the Yale Philharmonia at the Musicathlon 2008: Cultural Prelude to the Beijing Olympic Games in South Korea and China. Patrick now teaches grades 4-6 strings at the Shenendehowa Central School District in Clifton Park, NY, and plays with the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra.
Jim Van Slyke is taking his cabaret "The Sedaka Show" on tour this fall, and returns for performances in New York as well. The show celebrates the music of pop icon Neil Sedaka; for more information visit www.jimvanslyke.com.
Aimee Shorten '09 has won the principal flute position in the Amman (Jordan) Symphony Orchestra and will teach at the National Conservatory of Jordan. She will be performing bi-monthly concerts, teaching flute students ranging from age 14 to around 60, and a music theory class. This fall she will be designing a western music history course (not yet a part of the curriculum in Jordan) to be taught in the spring, and hopes to do some ethnomusicology research and field work in traditional Arabic music.
Timothy Winfield M.M. '07 won a trumpet section position in the Billings Symphony Orchestra in Montana.
