The Tuba/Euphonium studio will be holding a fundraiser concert on Wednesday, May 2nd in Ford Hall at 10:00 am. The performance will feature the Youngblood Brass Band Group, the South Hill Jazz Quartet, members of the Tuba/Euphonium Studio, and Ithacapella, Premium Blend, and IC Voicestream. The concert will be MC-ed by Junior Music Education Majors Riley Goodemote and Emily Dobmeier. It will be a great way to celebrate the life of Greg as well as the end of the school year.  Community raffles, including gift cards to Purity Ice Cream and Hickey's Music store, will be sold (starting at $1) and donations of any amount will be collected during the concert.

Faculty, Students, Alumni Collaborate on Opera Written by School of Music Faculty Member.

Ithaca College Opera and Ithaca College Light Opera are excited to announce that The Wolf By the Ears, an opera written by School of Music faculty member Dana Wilson which explores the romantic relationship between President Thomas Jefferson and one of his African-American servants, Sally Hemings, will be presented as a formal semi-staged read-through with orchestra on Wednesday, May 2nd at 7:00pm in Hockett Family Recital Hall. Wilson’s opera is the first operatic work to be written, directed, conducted, produced and performed by Ithaca College faculty, students, and alumni. Admission is free and open to the public.

Ithaca College School of Music is excited to announce a collaborative performance with the China Conservatory at Carnegie Hall on April 28 at 7:30 p.m. Featuring the China Conservatory Faculty Chamber Ensemble as well as faculty members from the Ithaca College School of Music and Oberlin Conservatory, the concert will highlight modern arrangements of traditional Chinese music.

The 2012 Fourth Ithaca International Conducting Masterclass run jointly by Chris Younghoon Kim (Cornell University) and Jeffery Meyer (Ithaca College) will feature guest conductor Larry Rachleff in five days of classes, rehearsals and discussions culminating in a final concert conducted by the masterclass participants. Young conductors participating in the class will come from throughout the United States to work with Mr. Rachleff and the Ithaca and Cornell Orchestras. Mr. Rachleff will also lead open rehearsals with orchestras of both institutions. Previous guest conductor faculty have included Alexander Polishchuk, Gustav Meier, and Carl St.Clair.
