Performances will begin this week at the Dillingham Center at Ithaca College of two one-act operas by Giacomo Puccini, “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi”. Immediately following the Sunday, February 24th, 2 p.m matinee will be a talk-back led by conductor and music director Brian DeMaris. The event will begin at approximately 4:00pm and will be held in Dillingham’s upper lobby area.
The School of Music has announced its 2013 Summer course offerings in Theory, History and Composition. To help you plan your summer course load accordingly, the full course listing can be viewed on the School of Music Website here.
Eight classes with a variety of themes and subject matters will be held across several summer sessions from May through August. One class - Prevention of Music Related Injuries -- is offered as an online course.

Congratulations to Weiyan Li, piano; Keegan Sheehy, percussion; and Mengfei Xu, piano, for winning the 2013 Ithaca College School of Music Concerto Competition.
In December, Associate Professor of Music, Nicholas Walker, spent a week at the Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien in Hannover, Germany working with the students of Professor Ekkehard Beringer.
Professor Walker taught individual lessons and gave four technique classes, as well as two lectures at the college: Strategies for Understanding and Managing Adrenaline Performance Anxiety, and Critical Thinking in Early Music and Beyond.
Jason Staniulis (‘13) and Colleen Harwood (‘13)—two School of Music Sound Recording Technology (SRT) graduates who have just completed their degrees this month—are starting the New Year as new-hires at two of New York City’s most desirable recording studios.
Staniulis is serving as General Assistant at Germano Studios, credited with recording the who’s who of the industry over the years, including John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Neil Young and B.B. King, among many others. Studio CEO Troy Germano formerly ran The Hit Factory, another household studio name in the city.
Harwood will begin her position at the newly opened Jungle City Studios, a multi-million dollar facility orchestrated by Alicia Keys' longtime recording engineer Ann Mincieli. The studio generated highly positive reviews in the pages of New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Mix Magazine.
