Five harpsichordists will present a free performance of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” at 7pm on two harpsichords on Thursday, October 1 in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. The performers will be Jean Clay Radice, lecturer in organ and harpsichord in the School of Music; Mark Radice, professor of music history; Mary Holzhauer M.M. ’08 and ’09, Joshua Oxford ’07, and Elena Nezhdanova ’10.
The Ithaca College Symphony Orchestra will open its season with a free concert of music by Ithacan Steven Stucky, Ravel, and Berlioz on Saturday, October 3 at 8:15 pm in Ford Hall on the Ithaca College campus. Jeffery Meyer will conduct the concert, which will feature Berlioz’s epic “Symphonie fantastique,” the “Mother Goose” suite by Maurice Ravel, and “Jeu de timbres for Orchestra,” composed in 2003 by Cornell composer Steven Stucky.
World/Classical percussion group Loop 2.4.3, who performed at Cornell University two years ago, will returnto Ithaca to celebrate the release of their new CD, Zodiac Dust, with a performance at 8:15 p.m. on Friday, September 25, in Ford Hall at Ithaca College. Loop 2.4.3's performance is funded in part by the Tri-Fund, which is jointly supported by the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life, The Office of the President, and the Office of the Provost.
Jazz saxophonist Michael Titlebaum will give a free recital on Thursday, September 24 at 8:15 pm in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. He will be joined by vocalist Catherine Gale, bassist Nicholas Waler, pianist John Stetch, trumpeters Frank Campo s and Paul Merrill, Jason Titus on banjo and others.
Classical guitarist Pablo Cohen will present a free recital on Sunday, September 20 at 4pm in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College. Music of Villa-Lobos, Guastavino, Gnattali, and Gismonti is on the program.
