Some of our most popular competitions highlighted below are kicking off this summer. All are encouraged to apply -- updated information is available on the following competition sites.
35th Annual Choral Composition Contest
The 35th annual Choral Composition Contest is now accepting entries. The Robert Campbell '40, M.S. '50, Endowed Choral Composition Prize will be awarded to the first-place winner in our annual Choral Composition Festival. Competition winners will be announced at the November 16 concert and awarded a cash prize. The competition is sponsored by Ithaca College School of Music and Mark Foster. Applications must be postmarked by August 19, 2013.
2013 Jazz Ensemble Composition Contest
This contest, now in its fourth year, was created to encourage the composition and performance of the highest possible quality of jazz ensemble literature playable by high school, honor bands, college bands, and professional bands alike. This year, all entries are required to feature trombone soloist. The winning pieces will be performed and recorded by the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble with legendary trombone soloist Jack Gale, who will serve as guest artist at the live web-streamed concert on Friday, October 11, at the Ithaca College School of Music. Winners in two categories (high school composers and all others) will be awarded cash prizes. Entries must be received by August 16, 2013, to be eligible.
