2013 High School Division Faculty
Summer Music Academy faculty consist of current Ithaca College faculty, top music educators from across the country, and renowned guest artists. Additional faculty and guest artists will be announced periodically. Please note that this is a list of faculty from the 2013 season. 2014 faculty will be announced soon.

Jeremy Harting began his Classical guitar studies with Ernesto Tamayo at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music. In 2004, he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in guitar performance from Ithaca College, where he studied with Pablo Cohen and received the Ford music scholarship and E.P. Johnson award.
While at Ithaca College, Jeremy spent a semester abroad in London studying with Timothy Walker at the Royal Academy of Music. Following Ithaca College, Jeremy was accepted into the graduate program at Yale University, under the instruction of Benjamin Verdery. While working on his Master of Music degree at Yale, Jeremy was awarded the George Lauder Greenway Fellowship and Eliot Fisk Prize.
Jeremy completed his Doctor of Music degree at Indiana University in Bloomington, under the tuition of guitar department chair Ernesto Bitetti. His dissertation examines the theoretical and historical principles of the solo guitar works of Roberto Sierra. As part of his coursework at Indiana University Jeremy studied vihuela and lute tablature with Nigel North, earning a minor in early music.
Jeremy has played in masterclasses for John Williams, Manuel Barrueco, Sharon Isbin, David Tanenbaum, Hopkinson Smith, David Leisner, Eduardo Fernandez, and William Kanengeiser.
Dr. Harting has significant experience teaching pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate level students at various institutions including: Ithaca College, Indiana University, Yale University, The Lancaster Classical Guitar Institute, and Darlington Arts Center.
As a performer, Jeremy has appeared throughout the U.S. in cities such as New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Nashville, New Haven, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Knoxville, and at concert events at the Ithaca College Winter Guitar Festival, Acadia Guitar Festival, Pennsylvania Academy of Music Guitar Festival, Milford Arts Society, Yale British Arts Center, Connecticut Classical Guitar Society, New England Guitar Society, Buskirk Chumley Theater, Wicker Park Art Center, and the 92nd Street Y in New York.
In addition to his accomplishments pertaining to the classical guitar, Jeremy also performs regularly on mandolin and electric guitar. These instruments have helped contribute to Jeremy's unique musical personality, especially in the area of contemporary music. He has performed works with various ensembles dedicated to promoting new works by prevailing composers.
