Michael Caporizzo graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music degree in Sound Recording Technology and a Masters of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance. As a graduate assistant at IC, Michael held a private studio, taught classroom guitar techniques, and assisted faculty in Performance Studies and Sound Recording Technology.
He is also an active free-lance audio engineer and musician. As an engineer, Michael worked full-time in live audio for BSI Production, serving such artists as Frankie Valli, B.o.B., Third Eye Blind, Pitbull, and many more. He also works as a recording engineer at Pyramid Sound Studios in Ithaca, NY; recent credits include Pablo Cohen’s La Casa, Malcolm Bilson’s Performing the Score (DVD) and an upcoming release by Samite.
Michael also maintains a regular performance schedule, both as a solo musician and a participant in jazz combos, pop/rock bands, musical theater orchestras, and chamber ensembles. He is currently focusing on his passions for teaching and classical guitar, with particular emphasis on the study of the music of Spain. Michael is very excited to be working with the Summer Music Academy this year.
