Alex Meixner ’98 was a 2007 Grammy nominee for his latest CD release, Polka Freak Out, along with Bubba Hernandez. The album, which was released in June on Moon Zero Bird Records, was nominated in the best polka album category. Meixner performed on a Grammy-winning album with his father, Al Meixner, and Walter Ostanek in 1994, but this was his first release as a leader to receive a Grammy nomination. Nationally Meixner has been featured with many polka, world music, jazz, and popular artists at venues including the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and Orleans Casino in Las Vegas.
Brian Dozoretz (manager of sound recording technical support) worked on two Grammy-nominated items: He was recording engineer for David Koz’s At the Movies, which was nominated in the best pop instrumental album category. And he was pro tools operator and mix assistant for Steppin’ Out, by Tony Bennett and Christina Aguilera, which was nominated in the best pop collaboration with vocals category.
