Rachel Wagner, assistant professor of philosophy and religion
In anticipation of her upcoming book, “Godwired: Religion, Ritual and Virtual Reality,” Wagner spoke with the Vermont newspaper Seven Days about religion in the virtual world. Wagner says that experiences online have become so realistic that it’s easy to become immersed in them. She cites that in Second Life religious services have become commonplace, not surprisingly since fans already “engage and interact with video games in ways that would function as religious.”
