New Faculty Concert Series at Ithaca College Will Offer Eclectic Program
ITHACA, NY — A new series of free concerts featuring the faculty of the Ithaca College School of Music will kick off on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the James J. Whalen Center for Music. Designed to incorporate a variety of music in a single performance, the opening concert will include a duet for flute and guitar by Gnattali; Elizabethan music arranged for trumpet, trombone and piano by Eric Ewazen; a performance of School of Music faculty composer Dana Wilson’s chamber work “Dancing with the Devil”; and Ralph Towner’s “Aurora.”
The performers include flutist Wendy Mehne, guitarist Pablo Cohen, trumpeter Frank Campos, trombonist Harold Reynolds, pianist Diane Birr, clarinetist Michael Galván, violinist Susan Waterbury, cellist Elizabeth Simkin, pianist Jeffery Meyer, oboist Paige Morgan, pianist John Stetch and pianist John White.
Future concerts in the series will take place at 8:15 p.m. on March 8 and April 5, 2011, and will include a Dvorak piano quintet, Liszt piano duo, Schubert chamber music and other music.
