ITHACA, NY—Members of the public will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of health and wellness philosophies and treatments at the Sustainable Health and Wellness Fair being held at Ithaca College on Saturday, December 9. The free program is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon in the Ben Light Gymnasium.
The fair will feature exhibitors and educators covering such topics as Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, Native American healing, reflexology, pet therapy, art and music therapy and nutritional and herbal therapies. Presentations will incorporate a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations. The focus of this event will be on proper nutrition, use of herbal products (natural and whole), and being conscious about the importance of creating a healthy environment in one’s daily life.
The fair is being organized and presented as part of the “Wellness: A Multicultural Perspective on Health and Healing” course, taught by associate professor of health promotion and physical education Srijana Bajracharya. It was developed with support from a grant awarded to Bajracharya through the “Science in the Community” program. Students from the “Human Nutrition” course are also participating in this event.
