"Participating in the NYC program this semester has been an enriching and delightful experience. Even though I am residing in my permanent home, the experience is differentiated by my internship and other activities the College has offered me. These include social gatherings like a recent dinner with the Ithaca College Board of Trustees, Network Nights and academic endeavors like visits to museums in the city. My classes are delightful and keep my mind engaged. I am currently enrolled in 3 classes. My online courses, Government and Media and Political Campaigning, have instilled me with a greater sense of the importance of time management. My Urban Sociology class, which meets in person, has proved to be very interesting. I also attend an internship seminar every two weeks, where my peers and I discuss our experiences.
My current internship is at the department of Creative Services at Telemundo New York. There, I learn about the basics of television production among other skills. I also work as a production assistant for the program “Acceso Total”, where I specialize in engaging the guests to the show. One of my major responsibilities is to research content for the show and to coordinate interviews in Spanish with distinguished guests. Occasionally, I assist with legal documentation and the procurement of music licenses. I also update on a daily basis the program’s Facebook page. Occasionally, I also go out with reporters and accompany them during on scene broadcasts. I aspire to become a professional that works in front of cameras as a Spanish Language Broadcaster to be able to enunciate my voice and inform society. Therefore, one of the most enriching opportunities I have while I am at the site is the chance to speak with the professionals as to how they obtained their careers and just learn more about them. These include producers, directors and reporters. While interning at Telemundo, I have also gained interest in working as a director. I am extremely grateful for this internship experience, which has proven to be both inspiring and entertaining. I am one step closer to my dream career."
