Park AdVenue Creates Work for Local Clients
Park AdVenue, the Ithaca College Chapter of the American Advertising Federation functions as a pro-bono advertising agency for local clients. Through its function as an advertising agency, its members gain real-world advertising experience putting together work that will be used throughout the Ithaca Community. For the spring 2013 semester, Park AdVenue has been working with Parakeet Feet and BeetNPath, helping these local businesses promote and advertise themselves.
Parakeet Feet is a new children’s shoe boutique located in Ithaca. Park AdVenue is helping the retailer reach out to new markets by creating direct mail pieces and other material for Parakeet Feet that can be distributed to local schools and families.
BeetNPath is a company that creates pre-cooked and frozen meals using steel-cut oats. This product is sold throughout the Ithaca area, and the Park AdVenue team is working to create online content to present the various uses for this product. Through the photos and videos created by Park AdVenue, the agency hopes to increase product awareness for BeetNPath.
Park AdVenue Secretary Courtney Brown, an Integrated Marketing Communications major, ‘14, said, “I believe that functioning as a pro-bono agency allows students to gain valuable real-world experience while still in college. Working with businesses in the community helps students build their portfolios and learn firsthand how to interact with clients. It’s truly a great experience for students to work on these skills while still taking classes here in the Park School.”
Park AdVenue meets every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Park 279. The organization is open to all majors. In addition to working as an agency, AAF members regularly network with alumni, discuss topics in advertising and collaborate on a variety of advertising activities.
