City Year unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. As tutors, mentors, and role models, these young leaders make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods across the United States and in South Africa. City Year New York was founded in 2003 to tap the civic potential of New York’s young people.

Applications are due on Monday, June 8 for this City Year New York internship opportunity!  This is an unpaid opportunity where interns will learn and develop a variety of professional skills. Including: organization, teamwork, project planning and execution, communication skills and customer service, multi-tasking, service learning, networking, and observe non-profit administration. At the successful completion of the program each intern will receive a letter of reference including the projects they accomplished.

Read more about this internship and apply online at www.ithaca.edu/erecruiting.

Would you like to have your resume sent to thousands of recruiters?  In late May, Career Services will be sharing its 2008-2009 Graduates and Non-Graduates resume books with employers.  Those recruiters who are looking for talented employees or interns may initiate contact with any student based on their resume information.

To publish your resume:

1.        Login at www.ithaca.edu/eRecruiting

2.        Click on documents and select ‘upload resume,’ then follow the instructions to upload your resume to your profile.

3.        Click on documents & select ‘publish resume’ to find the list of available resume books.

4.        If you are a graduating senior, publish your resume to the Graduates book.  If you are not a senior and are interested in internship opportunities or summer jobs, publish your resume to the Non-Graduates book.

5.        Resumes must be published to the resume books by Monday, May 18, 2009 for inclusion in this promotion.

For assistance in using eRecruiting or to get your documents critiqued, contact Career Services at 274-3365 or 1101 Gannett Center.  You can have your resume critiqued during our drop-in hours (10am-4pm daily).

If you read or listen to the news you undoubtedly know that these are challenging economic times across the country and, that fewer companies are recruiting on college campuses this year. In spite of the gloom and doom that is in the media Career Services wants the Ithaca College community to know that there ARE many excellent job, internship and summer opportunities available.

In fact, there are over 80 of them at the spring Job & Internship Fair on April 1, 2009 (Emerson Suites – 4:00 – 7:00 pm).

If you’re an IC student, this fair is your opportunity to meet these companies, to network with them and to share your skills, experience and qualifications. There will be interview opportunities as well.

But only if you show up.

Want to know more?

Show Me:

Don't let bad news or fear of the economy serve as your jailor. Brush off your resume, put on your good clothes and come make something happen.

Resumania is here!

Your fellow IC students are dusting off last summer’s resumes and adding their new accomplishments as they apply for summer opportunities.  You can help them by providing a copy of your resume and cover letters for the Career Services reference binders. We’re awarding three Ithaca College Bookstore Gift Certificates from a random drawing of all Resumania participants!

Just go to www.ithaca.edu/erecruiting and after you login, click on “Jobs and Internships.” Enter “Resumania” in the KEYWORDS box, and click the link “Resumania-Resumes”. Scroll down to the link “Upload a Resume” to add your resume. It’s a similar pathway to upload your cover letter. You can upload one of each and double your chance of winning. Good luck!

You can also get your resume in front of thousands of recruiters by publishing it to one of our resume books (once in eRecruiting, click on documents & then ‘publish resume’ to find the list of available books). We’ll e-mail the resume books (there is one book for job-seeking seniors and one for any student who is seeking an internship) to all of the employers in our database in late April.

For assistance in using eRecruiting or to get your documents critiqued, contact Career Services.
