Handwerker Gallery Exhibition
"It Is What It Is", work by J. Michael Lowe and
"Phase of the Devout", work by Austin Ballard

Lowe's work is stylistically simple but often structurally complex, featuring layers and tangles of welded copper forms, weatherized patina, and repetitive application of hardware.  Ballard's work interlaces the forms of familiar objects from domestic life with those of external landscapes sparking an interesting dialogue on solidity and fragility.  These concurrent selections of work are stylistically polar but share a predominant fascination with materiality and making.
