The Protestant Community (PC) at Ithaca College offers students of the Protestant faith a chance to meet and befriend other like-minded individuals interested in exploring and deepening their faith while at college. Led by a faithful group of students elected to the PC Council and guided by its chaplain, Rev. Meredith Ellis, the aim of the PC is to gather a faithful fellowship of young Christians to support and enrich each other's lives while at IC. Together our goal is to foster acceptance and tolerance among all Christians across Protestant denominations, as well as non-denominational church communities, by focusing on each other's similarities rather than differences.

Students may participate in a variety of activities within the PC including weekly worship, Bible Study, fellowship events, community service and leadership opportunities. There are two weekly worship services - Vespers on Sundays at 7:00 PM and Evensong on Wednesdays at 9:30 PM. Sunday mornings we encourage students to attend worship at one of the local churches in the Ithaca area by providing resources and rides to make this connection possible.

Bible Study of the Old and New Testament is offered at a number of times throughout the week with varied focuses led either by students or the chaplain. Community service opportunities are available throughout the year for students to join together to give back to our broader Ithaca community through events such as Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity as well as more frequent visits to help at Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen or by volunteering at local nursing homes.

One of our unique opportunities is the Hands of Praise Signing Choir, a group of students who learn hymns and praise music through sign language.

Fellowship events are scheduled several times each semester to offer relaxing, fun occasions to get together and build community.

Each fall semester we offer our CORE retreat, a weekend rich with potential to rejuvenate, reconnect and reinvest in our relationships with Jesus. Led by an experienced group of students, all former CORE candidates, this weekend provides an extraordinary opportunity to deepen our faith and dedication to our lives as Christians. CORE retreat '09 will take place the first weekend in December.
