Sport Clubs

Voluntarily organized by students, sport clubs exist for the purpose of furthering a common interest in a physical activity through competition, instruction, participation, or performance. Students elect their own officers, draft their own constitution, request facility space, get approval for and make travel arrangements, schedule contests with other teams, develop contracts with officials and artists, and manage their budget.

For more information on club meetings or to form a new club, contact Mike Ostman via email or in the Sport Clubs office on the first floor of the Fitness Center.

About Softball

The Ithaca College Softball Club, also known as the “Bomb Squad” formed in fall 2004.  Since that time it has grown in size and talent; currently holding a roster of 18 to 25 players. They are part of the National Club Softball Association which boasts a membership of 64 teams from around the nation; most Division I Universities and Colleges.  Their conference currently consists of Ithaca College, Syracuse University, and Cortland State.

In the Spring of 2008 they were one game from winning their conference. However, they were still selected to receive an “At-Large” bid to the 2008 NCSA World Series that was held in Carey, North Carolina.

The season consists of 12 games against teams within their conference, and other tournaments such as the Red Baron’s Fall Invitational and the NCSA Fall Tournament. Depending on weather they also play TC3 and Corning Community College. The club starts its season in mid September with tryouts usually the first week of school.  Roster decisions will be announced prior to the team’s first game and will be at the discretion of the coaches.
